Minnesota, it’s the land of 10,000 lakes and the homeland of our esteemed winemaker, David Ready, Jr. Not so coincidentally, it’s also the source of the American white oak barrels we use to age and ferment this wine. The short growing season and frigid Minnesota temperatures give these barrels from Caledonia, in the state’s southeastern corner, a very fine grain. They’re the very same frigid Minnesota temperatures that gave our winemaker the idea to move to California. We’re sure glad he did.

Winemaker's Notes
The Minnesota Cuvée Chardonnay continues to be one of my favorites. Born and bred in Minnesota, I was really excited to find out about a little stave mill in the south-eastern corner of the state. Staggemeyer Stave Mill in Caledonia, Minnesota is a family run business that produces extremely tight-grained barrel staves for the wine industry. The Minnesota oak barrels provide rich layers of toasted nut, vanilla, and allspice to the Alexander Valley’s Chardonnay aromas and flavors of baked apple, mango, and citrus. This is truly a unique wine and you will enjoy every sip. Skol!
