Chardonnay

Alexander Valley 2013 Chardonnay with a backbone

Description

From the banks of the Russian River in Alexander Valley comes one of the richest, most intense Chardonnays around. It knows how to stand on its own, with aromas and flavors of ripe apple, tropical fruit and vanilla. But it plays well with others, too—especially bacon-wrapped scallops or grilled fish. Kick back, raise your glass and let this wine remind you just how Goode life can get.

Winemaker's Notes

The Island Block Chardonnay has been one of my favorites since its inception over 25 years ago. This has always been what I call a sunset wine, a complex wine that always tastes better as the sun is going down rather that in the heat of the day. Don’t worry - I make wines to be enjoyed during that time of day as well. The flavors and complexity of the Island Block Chardonnay remind me of Apple Pie a la mode. The Chardonnay fruit adds the baked apple notes, the malolactic fermentation contributes the buttery aromas and creamy texture, and the French Oak adds the aromas and flavors of vanilla, all-spice, and toasted bread.
