Winemaker Notes

Here at Murphy-Goode, we love to give all varietals their time to shine in the spotlight, and this is true of our Alexander Valley Petit Verdot. Often used as a blending varietal to bring out the mid palate and tannins in a wine, our Petit Verdot offers deep flavors of dark berries, blueberry jam, anise and notes of toasty vanilla. Some may say this was a gamble, but we know we made a GOODE choice.

Petit Verdot is one of my favorite varietals growing in the Alexander Valley. It’s not only a great blender for Cabernet, but it also is amazing on its own from the right vineyard. This single vineyard Petit Verdot is grown on one of our estate benchland vineyards and has deep blackberry and black cherry flavors with just a note of fennel.
